I am heartbroken today as I share this tribute, borrowing Amanda Richerson’s photo and words, to honor the life of Cedric Cherry, who recently passed away. The news of his death has left a profound sense of loss for all who knew him and worked alongside him. Cedric was more than a colleague; he was a friend, a mentor, and a bright light in every room he entered.
Cedric was an integral part of WMHS TV 13, contributing to countless interviews and Friday Night Lights segments. His energy, dedication, and passion for storytelling made him an unforgettable presence on screen. He was a consummate professional, yet his warmth and gregarious personality made working with him a joy. Many of us remember his infectious smile, the kind words he offered freely, and the way he could light up even the most challenging of days.
Beyond his professional achievements, Cedric was someone who inspired those around him. He shared his knowledge, encouraged creativity, and even taught us dance steps that are fondly remembered today—a playful reflection of the joy and liveliness he brought into our lives. Cedric had a rare ability to make everyone feel valued, whether it was in front of a camera, behind the scenes, or simply in everyday conversations.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Cedric’s family during this incredibly difficult time. The grief of losing someone so vibrant and beloved is immeasurable, but the memories, lessons, and laughter he shared will live on in our hearts.
Fly high, Cedric—dance freely among the stars with the same energy, joy, and spirit that we were so lucky to experience here on earth. Your legacy of kindness, talent, and infectious positivity will never be forgotten.
